I remember when I first came across this book many years ago. I was intrigued. I practiced what I could from the book, then took a beginner's class in TFH. Eventually I took their instructor training and I was on my way. Now after 25 years of private practice in Natural Healing I still find that I am using the applied kinesiology that I learned in this book. Even though I have gone on to advanced formal trainings and studied in many countries around the world, I can still recommend this book for people who want to learn a lot about self care from a single book.
Several methods of treatment are covered including meridian therapy, stimulation of neuro-vascular points, neuro-lymphatic points and acupressure. You will find that many of the techniques shown can be utilized immediately for your health and the health of your family.
One caution: This book has a tremendous amount of information packed in very concisely. It may lead you to additional studies for the rest of your life. I hope it does. It did for me.

A must have for your Massage Colection

I am currently enrolled in massage school, and because I love books so much I am thrilled when a new required book is added to the list. As we are learning accupressure in our school, this book is a major reference point, as it is for most schools, I believe. Yet the instructions and explanations are precise enough that anyone could use this book if they are interested in this work. With a back ground in energy work or cranialsacral this will expand your knowledge immensely.
My one and only hang up; I don't really care for the pictures. While they are fine pictures of procedure, they seem to be taken from an original idea that happened in the 70's or something, and I feel it detracts from the modern, educational feel of the book, but in no way does it compromise the information- which is vast!
Also included are great protocol tips, an extensive bibliography and suggested reading list and good anatomy diagrams. Information is presented in a nice sized text, in easy column format with room for highlighting and notes, if needed. As far as information and diagrams go, this book has everything you need for accupressure!

Devices are frequently emplaced in or near features (e.g. washouts, culverts, gates and bridges) that conceal their signatures and channel traffic over them. Components common to an IED are a switch, an initiator, a power source, and the main charge with container. The main charge is typically a homemade, fertilizer-based, bulk explosive in a plastic or fabric container. The most common switches for buried IEDs are victim operated pressure switches and command wires.

IEDs are the enemy's fires system - their artillery. In Iraq and Afghanistan, the enemy delivers these fires through networks that for centuries have formed the sinews of commerce for tribes and factions. IED attacks provide the enemy with a cheap, stand-off, precision targeting system that often provides attackers with complete anonymity. This was 100% a "why JIEDDO is important" product and is hardly any form of IED encyclopedia. It includes numerous news articles about JIEDDO, military policies and small bit of general guidance/awareness related to convoy ops. This was possibly the worst cost-to-value purchase I've made on Amazon.

Errata, errata, errata :(

I like their basic premise: practice the specific things you will be tested on. This isn't foolproof, of course, but I'm finding their math questions challenging (in a good way - I'm waaay out of practice) and their vocab sections seemed to have good tips too (I feel a bit more comfortable with vocab right off the bat). Lots of practice questions, good explanations and shortcuts. I like it.
My big issue is that I'm finding mistakes (like WRONG answers to questions) and misprints all through the book. But what's even more frustrating is trying to Google "Princeton Review Cracking the GRE errata" and coming up with NOTHING. I get it, nobody's perfect, but at least admit you made mistakes and make it easy to find the corrections. There is NO excuse for Princeton Review not to have this info easily accessible when it could be on their website within moments of figuring out there's a problem.

Very clear and concise. Preparing to take my exam so I will update on the score I get. I think this manual covered all the topics and useful strategies. One thing: you can't just read this and take the test. You actually need to practice the strategies. I'm generally a great test taker, but I never really had a set strategy which I'm sure is the difference between a decent score and a spectacular one.

Online access doesn't work on 2 computers I have

The online software that comes with the book doesn't work on my new Mac or my old PC. I emailed Princeton IT per the instructions in the book and they never responded. Since I bought the book for the online access to the practice tests it is a waste of money.

The proof is in the pictures

This book is probably more oriented to physical therapists and other types of professional health care workers than the average scoliosis patient. It gets fairly technical at times. However, since there is a lack of good books on home exercises for scoliosis, the information in the book is really quite fascinating to anyone with an interest in conservative methods of treating spinal curvature.

The best part of the book is all of the before and after pictures of people with scoliosis and being able to see the actual improvement in spinal alignment after treatment with the Schroth method. The downside is that many of the exercises use specialized equipment that most people just don't have access to. All in all, it is very inspiring to be able to see what can be done for scoliosis just with nonsurgical, intensive physcial therapy and home exercise sessions.

Christa Lehnert-Schroth treated scoliosis patients successfully for 50 years, using a physiotherapy method her mother had developed decades earlier, in the early 1920s. She published her manual of exercise techniques in German in 1973, and it's still selling on the German Amazon site, now in its seventh edition. The author is now retired, but the clinic still treats patients.

Though this book is primarily directed to physical therapists, it is fascinating to the patient (and I've been one) to understand exactly how the system works and to see the dramatic Before-After pictures. Some of them depict very severe cases with one side completely caved in, and you wonder how the poor patient could breathe. One who'd had cerebral palsy couldn't stand up without help, but the Schroth clinic got her walking, even climbing stairs on her own. The book proves conclusively that the doctors are wrong who tell you that physical exercises can't work. It's a real inspiration to resolve to learn and do the exercises and to help oneself or one's child, with the aid of a physiotherapist.

For the physiotherapist or other healthcare professional, the book offers both theoretical background of the Schroth method, outline of the overall treatment process, and descriptions of over a hundred exercises to choose from, including nearly 700 photos. The exercises need to be tailored to an individual patient, since each case of scoliosis is somewhat unique, though there are some general patterns.

Unfortunately this edition, the first in English, contains many errors of English spelling, grammar, and style, and some of the translations are vague. It clearly did not get a good proofreading. It went out of print after a few months and will be replaced by a revised translation. I see the new one on Amazon listed as unavailable (March 10, 2008) but it will probably be a live listing before long.

The authors, both British art historians, are joined by 12 other experts in this field to present an amazing array of multicultural interpretations of the world as condensed into symbolic images. They define a symbol as "something that a particular culture considers to mean something else." Each entry features a blue line drawing of the symbol in a generalized pictographic style. Although the quantity of images could have been overwhelming, the symbols are extremely well organized into numbered columns that correspond with the alphabetical front index, or "symbol finder." This index is invaluable because the text itself is composed of eight thematic chapters, among them "Heaven and Earth," "Characters and People," and "Objects and Artifacts." Pertinent cultural meanings for the symbols are refreshingly worldwide, covering Africa, Europe, the Middle East, the Far East, the Americas, and the Pacific. Many of the connotations are religious in nature, with referrences ranging from Aztec beliefs to Mesopotamian mythology to major contemporary religions. The editors encourage readers to "dip" into the book and then follow the threads of capitalized cross references. After doing so, one will never think the same way again about eyes, rabbits, roses, swastikas, the color white, and 995 other things. Since graduating from the Courtauld Institute he has written two books on Renaissance art, and is currently working on a book about the history of the Palace of Westminster. Rowena Shepherd is an art historian currently working for English Heritage. Rachel Kennedy is a curator at the Victoria & Albert Museum. She specializes in the art of the 18th century, and has contributed entries on the symbolism of art to a number of dictionaries and encyclopaedias.

Complete Guide to Symbols and Their Meaning

"1000 Symbols" is an extensive compendium of symbols from around the world. What makes this book unique from other books on symbols is the worldwide approach. A specific symbol can mean widely differing things in different cultural contexts and the authors do a wonderful job of examining each interpretation. Each symbol has a number that is cross-referenced to the index at the beginning of the book making them easy to find. In addition, the symbols are categorized into eight general categories for easy browsing. The categories are Heaven and Earth, Characters and People, Body and Actions, Living Creatures, Mythical Beasts, Flowers, Plants and Trees, Objects and Artefacts, and Abstracts. Each of these categories is also subdivided.
Each of the symbols discussed has a line drawing of the symbol along with a detailed description of what the symbol meant to different groups, how it is used today, various ways it was drawn, etc. If you want to know about the various symbols that surround us this is an excellent place to find out. A highly recommended reference for anyone interested in symbols.

I am sorry to report of my disapointment with this title. While it does contain some interesting research, the symbols illustrated are all modernized graphics. The use of traditional and historic depictions of the symbols would have made this work much more readable.

As I continue my study of God's word, it makes my sudy easier to read a simple explaination of all the aspects of the second coming of Jesus Christ. Many students of the Bible often skip prophecy because of the difficulity in understanding and interpretation, but Dr. Willmington makes it simple. I highly recommend this book!
